In those shows, forensics means going into the lab and using the latest technology to help uncover a missing piece of an investigation.
The field of forensic linguistics is similar, but has only been in broad use since the late 1960s. A conference at ASU in Tempe Friday and Saturday is bringing experts from around the world to explain the concept and explore the latest developments.
